Spring Is Here, Changes Afoot

So I keep coming on here and starting to write a post but then give up and wander away (in the sense that I'll head to another part of the interweb) but as I truly have nothing better to do with my Sunday I shall stick at it and post something. Sure there'll be a gap but sod it, who cares right?! So Eurotrip was effing awesome, so good to see people, and have some time off work. Was such a laugh. Ended up doing just shy of 1500 miles and spending somewhere in the region of a monkey.

Last week had an assessment centre for a new job. Internal role at Ocado as a trainee team manager. Felt it went reasonably well and turned out I was right, as a week later found out I got the job. Woop. Not sure when it starts, waiting for more details from HR but should be good. Have a future woo, sure it has nothing to do with my degree and do occasionally wonder whether I will ever do anything related to my degree, but Uni was so awesome it is worth the debt, and it has helped me as a person so much that it is all gravy.

There's a whole bunch of other stuff I could probably drone on about but I shall hold off, partially because I can't be bothered to type it and partially because it is probably safer bottled up in my head.

Oh, and following up from my last post I did buy a new TV in the end, a 37" Panasonic Viera one, rather nice and shiny woo

2011, Winterval, Spending and Europe

Ahhhh so the new year is here. It has come around so damn quickly, it seems like so little time ago that I was seeing in 2010 with a bunch of nearest and dearest at Heneage, then the rest of final year, then graduation. The last 4 months especially have raced past, I can't believe that I've been at Ocado for that long, but I'm really getting into the stride of things. The last few shifts I haven't even noticed the heaviness of the shopping, weight is dropping off me left, right and centre and I can normally gain around an hour on a shift by working quicker than my route plan, which means I finish work earlier and still get paid for the full 8 hours.

The holidays weren't too shabby this year, if a little dull. At Uni it was always exciting to be home for a few days and see the family etc, but in no offensive way the buzz isn't really there when you're living at home again. New Year was alright, small party-type affair at Frampton's. Drank shitloads but didn't get that drunk, and so I felt mugged off when I woke up with a filthy, disgusting hangover on January 1st! No fair!! The time off work was good though, ended up working 2/9 days which was cool. Still, back to the norm as of this morning. Slightly concerned though as in the run up to Christmas I had all good routes, and have done since. I am so overdue and absolutely horrendous London route. I know it is coming, just never can be sure when...

Finally splashed out and bought the new Call of Duty this afternoon. It is probably a good thing but I seem to have issues with spending money nowadays. I go to buy something and then always end up dilly-dallying over whether or not I actually need it and more often than not will resist the urge to spoil myself. End up getting impulse urges and just splashing out after a while, which is what happened today. Nearly went way over the top and (almost) bought a 32" HDTV but then sense got the best of me and I didn't. That said, I have my quarterly bonus coming this month sometime and I feel at least a portion of that must be wasted on something!!

The most exciting thing keeping me going is mine and Tamps' Eurotrip in the spring. 9 days, 4 countries, about 1800 miles and a few placement folk to visit. It is gonna be awesome, almost what one could describe as a 'holiday'! Really excited about it and now that Christmas and the like is out of the way I can finally start to get properly excited about it. Will certainly be the best Wilko & Tamps Adventure yet!!

About Time

Been meaning to start blogging properly again for ages now, figured a new year (age wise) would be a good time to do so, with a bit of encouragement from my good friend Chantal. I don't imagine I will be writing anything profound on here but it will be somewhere to empty the shit that knocks about in my brain. I'm not going to introduce myself because the chances are if you get the link for this from me you will know enough about my life to work out what I'm referring to.

Anyways, it is nearly Christmas. Not feeling overly festive yet if I'm honest, with 35.5 hours until Christmas officially begins. I think it is because normally the draw of Christmas for me is that I get to see my family, but living back at home since graduation has taken away that element a bit. The most festive Christmas for me was definitely placement year. So excited to get out of France and home for the holidays was ace.

Work this week has been killer. Not so much in the routes themselves cos they have been reasonably small in terms of drop numbers but pretty heavy (lightest day thus far has been today which was 811kg). Still, only one more day tomorrow then 4 days off for Christmas. WIN!

On that note, I ought to be getting to bed as my alarm is set for 05:30 in the morning.
